She Gave Birth!

Early one Sunday morning, we walked out and this girl was in active labor. I didn’t share the gory parts because it was pretty intense and messy!

We noticed that she was standing up pushing out a white sack. She would push standing up and lying down. She did that over and over, up down, up and back down. There wasn’t a lot of moaning in pain, but you could tell she was uncomfortable and kind of frustrated.

But finally, she did find a comfortable spot on the pile of hay.

We could see her stomach contract in and out as she tried to get her calf out. The baby would appear and then disappear lol. But it was all White sack.

Finally she was able to get large enough contractions and push out the head and two front legs, the baby was still covered in the sack when she finally pushed it out. The calf was completely encased in the sac filled with fluid, and he was barely moving.

Mom had to rip the bag off her baby, and she ate the sack as she was getting it off of him. It was long stringy and chewy! It was a ton for her to eat.

It was something to see!

After she cleaned the bulk of the sac off she began licking the calf and her calf began to try and stand.

Watching him trying to stand on wobbly legs with in minutes of being born was captivating. I couldn’t look away! I am happy that I was able to share this part of the birthing experience with you.

I hope you enjoy the video as much we did.

We are learning and seeing so much out here! Well, Until Next Time!!
