Trust Building

So far one of the best things about living out here are the animals. They all have amazing personalities. They are friendly and gentle but, it takes the cows a while to warm up to us, especially if there is no food. We’ve been feeding them for a couple months so they are okay with us walking around inside of the Pasture. They don’t feel threatened and a few have starting coming in a little closer.

We have a few calfs that are only a few weeks old, they are super curious and playful . I love watching them play and seeing how different their personalities are.

Our newest additions are two “security” guards a Jack and Jenny(the term used for male and a female donkey). Did yall know they protect the herd from predators? Look it up on youtube, donkeys don’t play!

We named the girl Bailey and the male Smokie. They are hilarious! We feed them everyday, and love of them daily in hopes they will trust us. The Jenny will come out to meet us, or follow us down the hill after we’ve fed her. She likes to lick out her tongue and lick you when she’s begging for more food. The Jack is territorial and yells when he sees us feeding her before him. He doesn’t walk up as much as she does but isn’t afraid to let us pet him. They both are very loving.

We are excited to learn so much about them. Everyday we learn something knew, like today.. Cows can Sprint! LOL. There are so many shenanigans and surprises every morning. They’ve also been dropping babies like crazy! Can’t wait to share the little crew they’ve been raising.
