My “First” Cows

Hello, all! As we await the boring, but very necessary amenities to be completed, I decided to make my first livestock purchase. (All the other cows on property belong to my brother n law).

Even though we don’t live on the property yet, I can still check on the cows because my rental is close by, and my family is helping me as well.

I’ve heard that you shouldn’t rush to add animals when moving onto a new homestead because it can complicate your entry into your new setting. So, I do plan to stop here until I can move in, and become acclimated to my new environment.

The cows are very self sufficient, but we’ve been having extremely hot and, super dry days.

We are keeping water, feed, and now hay on the property for them to eat and drink. Thankfully we have a few trees that the cows can hide underneath to keep cool.

Well that’s all for now! It’s about to get really busy as we are about 43 days out from our first moving day. Whew, time is flying!
